still. life.

still. life. collects works from the last two years. The title offers itself for multiple readings. Still life is a work of art depicting (mostly) inanimate objects. But each word taken on its own encloses several meanings. The adjective still means "not moving", "calm"; the noun refers to a non-moving photograph, or a period of calm or silence. "Life" speaks for itself. If in music a silence is a rest that articulates sound, the silent objects and spaces in these photographs are moments of rest for reflection in the turbulence of life - brief moments of silence, short still lives in our deafening everyday.
